Something else to remember? This is not our home

Where I Belong

Sometimes it feels like I'm watching from the outside

Sometimes it feels like I'm breathing but am I alive

I won't keep searching for answers that aren't here to find

All I know is I'm not home yet

This is not where I belong

Take this world and give me Jesus

This is not where I belong

So when the walls come falling down on me

And when I'm lost in the current of a raging sea

I have this blessed assurance holding me.

All I know is I'm not home yet

This is not where I belong

Take this world and give me Jesus

This is not where I belong

When the earth shakes I wanna be found in You

When the lights fade I wanna be found in You

All I know is I'm not home yet

This is not where I belong

Take this world and give me Jesus

This is not where I belong

Where I belong, where I belong

Where I belong, where I belong

By Scott Hilgendorff/Cowboys of the Cross

This is a simple song that holds some pretty significant teaching when you hold it up with 1 Peter. It’s a great place for us to focus our attention for awhile as remembrances of Sept. 11 fill television and social media sites at the same time that we're fixated on the horrors of a civil war in Syria. This is life in our world every day, friends, not just when news networks turn their cameras there to politicize it. This is a world that needs Jesus.

Recommended Reading for today–all of 1Peter (it's not a long book but takes some time to digest)...it puts our hope in Jesus and what is yet to come, reminding us we are sojourners here; travelers, just visiting the horrors of this world for awhile with something so much better yet to come.

1 Peter 2:11-12 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

Let your actions show Jesus to your little part of this world today, wherever you may be spending it and whoever you may be with.

Days sometimes seem dark, but we need to remember we’re only here

for a little while
